Some basic info to help you plan your trip-

By Car Or Bus:

With the new mountain highway between Durango and Mazatlán now complete, the driving time between these cities has been cut from 11 hours to just 3.  This has significantly cut the driving times to Mazatlan from much of Mexico as well as the south central U.S.  Mexico has excellent bus service connecting it's cities and towns, and you can even hop on a bus in larger US border cities and get to Mazatlan in less than a day.

By Air:

Mazatlan's airport (MZT or MMMZ) handles mostly domestic flights, but this is an international airport with direct daily flights to Tucson and LA year round, and a few Canadian cities from roughly mid fall to mid spring.

Things to Remember:

Forgetting something you needed can put a damper on your day.  Here is a list of things for you to consider taking on your trip:
  • Appropriate shoes for the boat/beach/Deer Island
  • A sweater or light jacket- depending on season and trip
  • Anti-Sickness pills should be taken hours before the trip
  • Binoculars
  • Camera
  • A hat for sun protection that won't blow away in the wind
  • Sunscreen
  • Swimsuit if you plan to swim and don't want to scare others
  • Towel
  • Charge camera and other batteries before trip
  • Batteries and chargers.  There is some 120VAC on the boat.
  • Sunglasses and other eyecare items- contacts etc.
  • Food and Drinks- discuss with the Captain before the trip.
